Music and Keyboards
Talking about hobby, I have lots of hobbies, but the most favorite hobby in my life is music. I love music. Everybody loves music. Sometimes people shares their thought through music. People express their feeling with music. Music roles some important things in our life, since many centuries ago. For example, our ancestor used music for their traditional mystic ritual. People in their daily life must be listening to music at least one tone a day. You can find music anywhere. You can find it in the supermarket, at the airport, on your smartphone, even in the forest. That's the reason why I love music, because people can't live without music.
I express my music with playing piano and keyboards. But, sometimes I prefer to play keyboards than piano, because there are lots of sounds that produced by keyboards (not just the "piano" sound, but the piano just produced the sound of "piano". You can do some sound effects (SFX) from keyboards, make some rhythms from keyboards and explore the new sounds from keyboards, which you can't do it on piano.
There are some types of keyboards. There are synthesizer, workstation and stage piano. Most synthesizers keyboards produced the "synth" sounds. You usually hear the "synth" sounds in some electronic dance music (EDM). You can explore plenty of sounds in this synthesizers keyboards. Usually, they have some knobs and sliders to produced the sounds. The workstations is the most favorite keyboards that used by the keyboardist. Workstations can do lots of stuff, for example makes rhythms, layering the voices (sounds), arrange music, etc. Keyboardist likes to use workstations because of their multi-function and multi-tasking features. Stage piano is the common keyboards that we can find in every stages in this world. The reason why this keyboards called "stage piano". First, because they look-like and have the touch-feel of the piano and they have 88-keys (as same as piano keys), and the second is they usually used for play in a stage performance.
I love playing keyboards, specially workstations and stage piano keyboards. I play keyboards since I was 6 years old. My parents bought me keyboards and I try to play it by self-taught. At 12 years old, I developed my skills by play with some musicians in jamming-sessions, also playing in the church. Now, I still love music and have three keyboards in my house.
